Solo playtest
Playtest a Commander deck online
Paste a Moxfield link or a decklist, and your deck is dealt onto a full Commander table in a few seconds: three bot seats take their turns, but they are dealt no cards, so the table is a goldfish. It runs in the browser, it is free, and it needs no account: nothing you import is saved.
How it works
- Import. The URL of a public Moxfield deck, or a list pasted as text, one card per line (
1 Sol Ring). When the list does not say which card is the commander, you pick it among the candidates. - Deal. Your commander goes to the command zone, your library is shuffled and you draw seven. Take a mulligan as often as you need.
- Play. Draw, play lands and spells, tap and untap, attack, put counters on permanents, scry, create tokens, and move any card between library, hand, battlefield, graveyard, exile and the command zone.
- End your turn. Bot Alpha, Bot Beta and Bot Gamma then take theirs, but they are dealt no cards, so a bot's turn passes without a land, a spell or an attack. Restart deals the same list again.
What it is for
Goldfishing, with a little pressure: how often the deck has its mana by turn three, whether the curve casts the commander on time, what a typical opening hand looks like, how long it survives a table that hits back. The solo playtester runs on a small engine of its own and you move the cards yourself, the way you would at a kitchen table — it does not enforce every rule. A second playtester, built on the open-source Forge rules engine, is described in How Lotus Vault works. For step-by-step tips, read the playtest guide.
Before and after a game
- Deck analysis — bracket estimate, power level, salt and combos for a Moxfield or Archidekt deck.
- Explore — search every card by colour identity, role and price to find a replacement for the card that disappointed you.
